Would God use you to be part of a new church?

Maybe you’ve never been to church, but you have at least some interest in finding out more about who Jesus is and what he taught. Maybe you left church a long time ago (could be things just got away from you, and you drifted). Would God use you to be a part of Ventura Reformed, this “church plant”? There were nine of us living out here who were part of our “mother church” in Pasadena, but we had moved out to Ventura at different times over the past few years. And in April 2021, that Pasadena church sent a pastor and his family from our broader network of churches to live here in Ventura and lead us in a slow and steady effort to start a new church. There are 30+ of us now of all ages, hoping, working, praying to slowly but steadily grow.

Some of us were born into Christian families and were raised to follow Jesus and the Bible. As we got older our understanding of Jesus and our confidence in him grew (even though some of us for a time rejected Jesus, or had serious doubts and questions about him that were not settled until later). Others of us growing up were not taught about Jesus much, if at all. Still others of us used to follow competing religions and philosophies. But here we are today, no matter how we got here, committed loyalists to Jesus, still learning from him. We love all people no matter what they believe, and see it is a privilege and responsibility to be available to anyone who wants us to help them work through their own convictions about God.

We have public worship services every Sunday at 10:30am and 5:00pm. The first service runs about 75 minutes and the second service about 45 minutes. Everyone is welcome, and you’re always welcome Sundays to just come sit and watch, see what’s going on. If you have kids, they are welcome. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a church from the ground up. We believe that if for some reason you want to visit, you are also bringing something to the table for our future, if you, in time, decide to stick around. How has God has made you to work with others to be a beautiful and positive presence in other people’s lives?
